Originally published as a serial in a French magazine, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea is one of Jules Verne’s most famous works. It was one of the novels in Verne’s science-fiction series Voyages extraodinaires (Extraordinary Journeys) along with other famous stories like Around the World in Eighty Days and Journey to the Center of the Earth. Twenty Thousand Leagues is an exciting adventure filled with interesting characters and eerie predictions for future technologies (like what submarines would look like). The story is about Professor Aronnax who is searching for an animal that has been attacking ships around the world. These PUBBLYs have professionally produced audio and sound effects, as well as animated dialog boxes. The panels of the graphic novels are presented one or two sliding panels at a time so that readers can see and experience the story fully and to let the story unfold slowly over time. Teacher’s guides (downloadable PDFs) contain background information, vocabulary, comprehension questions, and discussion guides.
