This biography of Marco Polo (1254–1324) follows the famous Venetian merchant on his journey along the Silk Road. It also describes his life after his most well-known adventure. Polo, his father, and his uncle set out from Venice for China, crossing Asia on land from west to east. He spent about fifteen years in the court of Kublai Khan before returning home. However, once he arrived back in Venice, people didn’t believe his tales. Long after Marco Polo passed away, people are still fascinated by his stories. Even now, scholars debate whether Polo’s adventures actually happened, but most believe that they did. These PUBBLYs have professionally produced audio and sound effects, as well as animated dialog boxes. The panels of the graphic novels are presented one or two sliding panels at a time so that readers can see and experience the story fully and to let the story unfold slowly over time. Teacher’s guides (downloadable PDFs) contain background information, vocabulary, comprehension questions, and discussion guides.
