Nelson Mandela (1918–2013) was an extraordinary man who fought for civil rights and equality in South Africa. This biography recounts his journey to becoming South Africa’s first black head of state as the President. It is a story of his struggle as he fought for what is right and gave a voice to the black people of South Africa who were treated unfairly by the government. These PUBBLYs have professionally produced audio and sound effects, as well as animated dialog boxes. The panels of the graphic novels are presented one or two sliding panels at a time so that readers can see and experience the story fully and to let the story unfold slowly over time. Teacher’s guides (downloadable PDFs) contain background information, vocabulary, comprehension questions, and discussion guides.
