The Prince and the Pauper is a work of historical fiction by famed American author Mark Twain. A piece of historical fiction can be set during a real period of history or include real people from history. However, the story itself is fictional. This particular tale focuses on a poor, working-class boy in London named Tom Canty. He coincidentally meets the Prince of Wales, Edward Tudor, outside the palace grounds one day. The two boys look so much alike that they decide to trade places to find out how the other boy lives. These PUBBLYs have professionally produced audio and sound effects, as well as animated dialog boxes. The panels of the graphic novels are presented one or two sliding panels at a time so that readers can see and experience the story fully and to let the story unfold slowly over time. Teacher’s guides (downloadable PDFs) contain background information, vocabulary, comprehension questions, and discussion guides.
