The Swiss Family Robinson tells the story of a minister, his wife, and their four sons after they are shipwrecked on an island in the East Indies. Despite the hardships they face, they learn to live off the land. Over time, they grow to love the life they have on the island. The story was written by Johann David Wyss for his own children to enjoy. Though Johann David wrote the first manuscript, it was his son, Johann Rudolf, who edited the manuscript and published the story. These PUBBLYs have professionally produced audio and sound effects, as well as animated dialog boxes. The panels of the graphic novels are presented one or two sliding panels at a time so that readers can see and experience the story fully and to let the story unfold slowly over time. Teacher’s guides (downloadable PDFs) contain background information, vocabulary, comprehension questions, and discussion guides.
